Welcome to Birgit Hartoft's Website.

I hope you will enjoy browsing through my website. You will find information about my chosen breed, the Norwegian Forest cat, about the Alfheim cattery, and some general information on what to look out for when you go looking for that special kitten. We have tried to make our homepage as informative and user friendly as possible. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, please contact us.
You will also find a little information about my favourite dog breed, the Australian Shepherd, and the work I do with them, and something about the patchwork I also indulge in.
And last, but most importantly, something about the work towards improving patient safety in the Danish health system, which I have begun to become involved in since my husband's death.

What is Alfheim?

Alfheim is the home of the Norse god Frey, who was the god of plenty and fertility. That seemed very appropriate for cats, so we decided Alfheim would make a perfect breed prefix for a breeder of Norwegian Forest cats.

Originally we were two, Henning Vigold and Birgit Hartoft. Due to our full time jobs, our hobby of showing and breeding Norwegian Forest cats had to be fitted into a busy schedule.
On April 9 2006 Henning died, and until further notice I will be continuing the Alfheim cattery alone. If it will continue like this only time can tell. My household consists at the moment of two Norwegian Forest cats and two dogs, both Australian Shepherds.
I live in a bungalow with a garden, part of which is fenced in for the cats.
